🩸 QuickDoom

A native, blazingly fast launcher for GZDoom, UZDoom, and other Doom source ports.

Most Doom launchers are either stuck in 2006 or built on Electron and take longer to open than the level you're about to load. QuickDoom boots in about 121ms, weighs in at ~10MB, and gets out of your way so you can start blasting demons.

What It Does

QuickDoom manages your source ports, IWADs, and mod stacks so you don't have to juggle batch files or remember command-line flags.

• Drag-and-drop mod loading — drop in .wad, .pk3, .pk7, .deh, .bex, or .zip files and reorder load priority right in the app.
• Profiles — save a full setup (source port + IWAD + mod stack + custom launch args) and switch between them in one click. Keep "Brutal Doom," "Project Brutality," and "Ancient Aliens" ready to go side by side.
• Live console output — see your source port's stdout/stderr in real time if something goes wrong, instead of guessing why it crashed.
• Minimizes to tray on launch — the launcher gets out of the way while you play and comes back when you're done.
• Custom launch arguments — for anyone who wants -skill 4 -fast or other flags without editing a shortcut.

How to Use It

1. Download the latest build below and unzip it — no installer, just run the .exe.
2. Point it at your source port (GZDoom, UZDoom, etc.) and your IWAD (doom2.wad, doom.wad, etc.) using the file browser.
3. Drag in your mods, hit save on a profile if you want to reuse the setup, and launch.

What You'll Need

• Windows 10/11 (Linux and macOS builds are also produced, but Windows is the primary target)
• A source port you already have installed — QuickDoom launches it, it doesn't include one
• Your own legally owned copy of the Doom IWAD(s) you want to play — QuickDoom doesn't ship or provide game data of any kind

Why This Exists

Classic launchers like ZDL got the job done for a long time but haven't really evolved. Most of what replaced them is a web page wearing a desktop app costume — 300+MB of RAM and a few seconds of loading just to show you a dropdown menu. QuickDoom is a native Windows/Linux/macOS app built to be fast on purpose: instant boot, tiny footprint, no wasted motion between "open the launcher" and "in the game."
